Lanxess for people of Haiti

Two hundred thousand dollars have been donated by Lanxess in order to supply more than four million chemical water treatment tablets. The solid chlorine tablets are used in water purification systems and can provide about 76 million liters of clean water for at least 20,000 Haitian families. The company’s US subsidiary is coordinating the supply of the tablets to Deep Springs International (DSI), a US-based non-profit organization that helps families purify their own water. The organization uses modified, nineteen-liter buckets that are compatible with the solid chlorine tablets in order to treat contaminated water. This process is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
