Italmatch Chemicals goes shopping

An Italian specialty chemicals group controlled by Mandarin Capital Partners, Italmatch Chemicals has recently acquired from Dutch company Thermphos International of their business units for the production of phosphonates (marketed under the Dequest brand) and phosphorus chlorides. The phosphonates are produced in Newport, UK, and distributed through the sales network headquartered in Louvain-le-Neuve, Belgium, which is also where the R&D activities are carried out. The phosphorus chlorides, on the other hand, are produced in Höchst, in Germany.
With this operation, Italmatch Chemicals, which has manufacturing plants in Italy, Spain and China and sales offices in North America and in the Asia-Pacific region, has secured an additional turnover of 80 million euros, which should take its overall expected turnover for 2013 to over 250 million euros. At the end of 2012, the group also purchased, from the Italian company Snia, the Spanish company Union Derivan, a producer of esters and additives for detergents, which is based in Barcelona and has plants in Zaragoza.
