Union joins forces with Mech-I-Tronic to develop mechatronics hub
To develop an Italian hub dedicated to the extrusion, industrial automation and plastics processing sectors. With this objective, made official during Plast 2023, Union has joined Mech-I-Tronic (MIT). The new structure will focus on the development of mechatronic technologies and will therefore also involve companies not only active in the plastics sector, with the aim of growing while leaving full operational autonomy to the companies that are part of it.
Union has 75 years' experience in the extrusion sector and, following the acquisition of Tecom and Ceba Elettromeccanica and the creation of a number of companies to verticalise production, it now has a structure made up of companies that have been in business for over 60 years. With four production plants covering an area of 20,000 square metres, the group generated more than two thirds of its turnover abroad in 2022.
Over the years, Union has consolidated its position in the global extrusion market by developing technological know-how, innovative processes and an efficient service and support network. Today, the company also develops innovative technologies for processing not only virgin plastics, but also post-consumer recycled and biodegradable plastics (pictured, from left: Ferdinando Passoni, Union Group President and CEO, Alberto Colnago, Tecom Sales Manager, Andrea Colombo, Tecom CEO).
