Previero acquires Parini

Previero, an Italian leading player in the design and manufacturing of plastic recycling solutions, acquired Parini, founded in 1985 in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and specialized in the development and production of equipment for the mechanical separation of waste into various types, such as rigid plastics and films, as well as the removal of contaminants.

Mechanical sorting is a critical initial step in the plastics recycling process - alongside Previero’s focus area of pre-processing - to ensuring high output quality and overall plant efficiency. Parini has developed robust in-house technical expertise, enabling it to create a wide range of machinery and become a trusted partner to its customers.

The most recent estimates report that today only 15% of plastic waste generated worldwide is recycled. With tightening regulations and increasing brand commitments, this rate is expected to nearly double by 2040. Parini’s mechanical sorting equipment is critical in ensuring that post-consumer and post-industrial waste is turned into secondary raw materials, with positive impacts on: materials recycled, CO2 emissions reduced, energy saved and landfill saved.

The recycling market is evolving towards a more sophisticated value proposition, with customers increasingly seeking integrated players capable of delivering end-to-end solutions. The partnership with Parini will enhance Previero turnkey solutions by integrating additional technological capabilities along the recycling value chain. The acquisition marks Previero’s strategic entry into the mechanical sorting sector.

Fabio Parini, General Manager at Parini, commented: “We are excited and honored to join forces with Previero. By merging our robust technical expertise with Previero’s exceptional R&D capabilities and market leadership, we are confident that this partnership will not only strengthen our platform across the plastic recycling value chain but also significantly elevate our integrated solutions, both within the plastic recycling sector and beyond.”

Giuseppe di Carpegna, CEO at Previero, added: “I am thrilled to welcome Parini, one of our most trusted partners with whom we have cultivated a long-standing relationship. We greatly value Parini’s exceptional technical expertise. This acquisition allows us to expand into the highly attractive sorting sector, further enhancing our turnkey solutions. It aligns perfectly with our top priority: delivering world-class, end-to-end solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”

Andrea Venturini, Principal at Ambienta, concluded: “The acquisition of Parini, with its extensive experience and strong synergies with Previero, aligns seamlessly with Ambienta’s investment objectives and long-term vision for Previero's platform. Our ultimate aim is to establish Previero as the global leader in integrated and sustainable recycling solutions.”
