European Commission: Versalis may acquire Novamont

The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of sole control of Novamont by Versalis. The transaction mainly affects the market for bio-based products and biochemicals from renewable resources.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns given the limited combined market position of the parties. The transaction was assessed under the ordinary merger control procedure.
