Growing sectors in the United States

US demand for plastic film is expected to grow 1.9% annually to a volume in excess of 7.2 million tons in 2016, with a market value of 19 billion dollars. The figures emerged from studies by a number of US research companies. In particular growth is likely to be helped by increased use of film in the packaging sector, especially for food products. As for materials, LLDPE films will see the most significant increase, while growth remains limited for PET, and PVC continues to decline. In the US, consumption of plastic caps and closures will increase, exceeding 10 billion dollars by 2016, due primarily to rising demand for more costly and complex products, such as safety closures. Forecasts for auto parts are good at least in the short term, as expectations for vehicle production is rather optimistic for the current year. Vehicle registrations are indeed expected to grow by 7% compared to 2012, exceeding 15 million units.
