At Chinaplas Sacmi launches a new generation of compression moulding machines

Sacmi will present various solutions at Chinaplas 2025 (15-18 April, Shenzhen, China), including a major innovation: the CCM64MD compression moulding machine for caps. This machine offers a 50% increase in productivity, reaching up to 2,850 caps per minute, and reduces energy consumption by another 15%, making it the ideal machine to combine high productivity with maximum competitiveness. Alongside this new machine, Sacmi will also showcase its complete offering for PET preform production, vision systems, and digital services for advanced machines and process control.
The Chinese market now demands top-level quality and productivity. To meet these needs, the Imola-based company has chosen Chinaplas to present the new CCM64MD cap press in a world premiere. This machine is the cornerstone of a new generation of compression presses capable of achieving speeds of up to 2,850 caps per minute with 64 cavities. With a 50% productivity increase compared to the current range, this machine also reduces operating costs and effectively addresses the specific requirements of the Chinese market. In this regard, the CCM64MD is designed to support the very high production capacities of bottling lines, allowing a single machine (171,000 caps per hour) to meet the needs of two high-capacity bottling lines (80,000 bottles per hour).
Sustainability in packaging remains a key driver, both in China and globally. Alongside the development of a new generation of lighter and higher-performance caps, Sacmi has invested in reducing the specific energy consumption of its machines, setting a new benchmark in technology. In this context, the new generation of CCM presses reduces energy consumption by 15% compared to the previous range, bringing it down to 0.43 Kwh/kg. In terms of emissions, this equates to a reduction of 8 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year, for the same level of production.
A dedicated area of Sacmi’s exhibition at Chinaplas will be focused on showcasing Sacmi’s original moulds, which offer outstanding production performance, consistent quality, and long-term reliability, ensuring the conformity of the finished cap. This, combined with the company’s consultative approach to managing machine tooling, results in higher quality and lower costs.
In addition to its cap press technology, Sacmi offers a full range of machines for preform production. Among the distinctive PET solutions is the IPS 400 preform press, which integrates the vision system directly into the machine, offering advantages in process control. The company also provides a broad range of vision systems – some of which are locally produced in its Chinese facilities – for controlling every phase of production, from caps to preforms, both inline and offline. These solutions are becoming increasingly sophisticated, both in terms of inspections and tools that facilitate machine operation, including through the use of artificial intelligence.
Regarding system digitalisation, Sacmi has incorporated a new generation of digital controls into its cap and preform machines, improving performance, aiding in the interpretation of process data, and supporting operators in making better decisions. At the Chinese trade fair, new applications will be presented, such as machine self-diagnostics (Smart Pack 2), cloud-based support services (Smart Care), and more. All of these new services are integrated with Sacmi’s technical support and genuine spare parts in the country, under the management of Sacmi Shanghai.
