Adhesive for athletes
The Ford Ironman World Championship 2011 (one of the most gruelling Triathlon events) has recently ended in Hawaii after 3.86 km of swimming, 180 km by bike, and 42 km running.
The multi-award-winning Australian athlete Chris McCormack has won the championship twice, becoming "Ironman" on the seat of the world's fastest bike (the Shiv TT, made by the American producer Specialized), demonstrating all his strength and endurance.
The producer chose Loctite epoxy adhesive (by Henkel) to allow the construction of an extremely aerodynamic frame with excellent power transmission, without having to resort to costly finishing operations.
In terms of production, this adhesive offers benefits such as thermal polymerization (to ensure the frame assembly process is not limited by excessively fast glue setting times) and scrap reduction.
