Extrusion of thin films

Dolci Extrusion has put the finishing touches on a plant for the extrusion of 5-layer cast stretch film with a width of 2 metres and thicknesses ranging from 8 to 20 microns. The plant is characterized by a dual high-speed turret winder with automatic core loading. This unit achieves a production output of 700 m/min and can use 2" or 3" cores (changeover time is 17 seconds) to produce either hand wrap with lengths up to 200 metres or 17-kg machine wrap rolls for automatic packaging.
The extruders in the line, which has a production output of 1200 kg/h, have water-cooled motors with energy-saving temperature control using infrared lamps (0.42 kW/kg). All cylinders on the line are specifically designed to produce thin film. They are powered by independent servo motors that ensure perfect tension adjustment. The line is also outfitted with an inline scrap recovery system, thus eliminating the scrap granulation step and all "fish-eye" problems.
