A boost from the automotive industry

According to a recent study by Research and Markets of Dublin, global demand for plastic components for the automotive industry could amount to 18.9 billion dollars by the end of 2016. As is occurring in other sectors, the highest growth levels, around 10% per year, are expected to be recorded in the Asia Pacific region, followed by the Americas, with 9.4%. It is forecast that Europe will record an increase of 5.9%. Transmission systems, engine compartment components and electrical and electronic components are the applications expected to show the highest growth rates.
