Bottles on your feet

Eight post-consumer PET bottles. This is the number needed to produce the quantity of Eco-fi fibre used in each pair of the new NewSky sneakers from New Balance. This polyester fibre, entirely obtained from recycled PET bottles, is used to produce the fabric that makes up as much as 95% of each shoe. Lighter than cotton and warmer than wool, it is used in the textile and clothing industries to produce covers, carpets, wallpaper, upholstery fabrics, and mats, etc. Furthermore, to enrich it, it can be woven with natural fibres such as cotton and wool. The new sneakers have already been launched in America and come in eight different models.
