Ramco foregoes Vinyls acquisition
There is no chance for a profitable and successful transaction between the parties: with this statement, written in a letter to the Italian government, Ramco (Qatar) has definitively abandoned its purchase of Vinyls production facilities in Porto Torres (Sassari) and Marghera (Venice). The Middle Eastern company was the only one to step forward with an offer to acquire the entire chlorine chain, but has now officially withdrawn from negotiations with Eni and the Italian Ministry for Economic Development. The Italian under-secretary Stefano Scaglia is already working to find new options to keep the plants in operation and safeguard jobs.
