The PET industry at Drinktec 2013

Munich was the venue for the Drinktec fair, 17-20 September 2013, organized by Messe München International (MMI) in collaboration with VDMA. The fair, which attracted 1445 exhibitors this year, mainly from Europe, the United States and China, takes place every four years and represents one of the preeminent international occasions for the beverage and liquid foods industry. The fair addresses production, filling, packaging and raw materials, with the addition of a focus on processing, automation and control Technologies.
The fair occupied 132,000 square metres in 12 halls. One of the halls (PET Point) was dedicated to technologies and uses relating to polyethylene Terephthalate. The exhibitors covered the entire range of plants for the production and filling of bottles with mineral water, soft drinks and beer. The following plants were represented: PET pellet dryers; preform plants; bottle blowing plants coupled with filling and capping technologies; beverage and beer production plants; labelling machines; heat-shrink bottle wrap; automatic palletizing machines; and other accessory equipment.
A total of 168 Italian exhibitors were present at the fair (as opposed to 559 from Germany). The following Assocomplast members, mainly occupying the PET pavilion, were present: Green Box, Moretto, Piovan, Sacmi and Sipa. These companies were satisfied on the average with the results of the fair, which they said had been advantageous for them, partly to acquire projections of market trends for PET and its fields of application.
