Joint-venture for nautical
Persico, through its Nautical Division, and Future Fibres have recently formed the Future Spars joint-venture to manufacture moulds, rigging and carbon masts for super-yachts and racing boats. Production for the new structure will be located near the Future Fibres facility in Valencia and will use autoclaves up to 50 metres and a new patented process for the manufacture of carbon masts.
Persico Nautical Division is specialized in the construction of sailing yachts and its products include high performance racing boats such as the two Luna Rossa which participated in the 2007 America's Cup. The company has invested in plants and machinery for products embodying the exceptional mechanical properties of composites: a vacuum plant and a post-cure oven for large components and high strength laminates. The company has some 15 CNC machines ranging in size up to 25 x 7 x 3 m ensuring the highest precision in shapes and profiles in the manufacture of moulds and models, dramatically reducing production times.
Future Fibres is specialized in the production of rigging and PBO equipment for any kind of boat and is one of the world's major manufacturers of nautical components in composite materials.
The joint-venture has already started construction of the first carbon mast, which will be installed on a boat taking part in one of the upcoming international races.
