Growth for bioplastics

By 2015, global biopolymer production capacity may reach 1.7 million tons, versus 700,000 in 2010 and 900,000 expected for the current year. These forecasts were released by the European Bioplastics Association on the occasion of the Interpack show, which is currently taking place in Düsseldorf.
While biodegradable polymers have led growth in recent years, bio-based materials are expected to make significant gains in the near future.
