Euromap makes its point at K 2013

On October 18, 2013, the K 2013 fair in Düsseldorf provided the setting for the now traditional Euromap (Europe's Association for plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers) press conference, which was attended by a large group of European journalists. Euromap provided an update on its situation and role within the international plastics machinery sector, focusing in particular on its own "core business", in other words, the construction of processing machinery and systems. This European federation currently represents the manufacturers' associations of nine countries, including Italy and Germany, which are also the countries of its president and vice-president, respectively Luciano Anceschi, CEO of Tria, and Helmut Heinson, sales director of Arburg.
Luciano Anceschi, in his presentation, underlined that the 2012 figures should show that the members of Euromap recorded production worth over 12 billion euros and an export volume exceeding 9 billion euro. For the European federation these figures, representing increases of 3.2 and 2.4% on those recorded in 2011, mean a  41% share of the global plastic materials machinery market, in which Europe is the main target market, followed by America and China. However, if these two countries are compared directly, China actually comes out as the stronger. China is also the main outlet market for  Euromap exports to the BRIC countries, followed by India, Russia and Brazil. Estimates suggest that 2013 will go down as a year of consolidation of the result recorded in 2012, while 2014 is expected to see a 4% increase, to reach a value of 12.5 billion euros.
Helmut Heinson underlined the importance if the support offered by the European federation to  many sector fairs the world over - Arabplast, Chinaplas, Interplastica, K, NPE, Plast, Plastindia and Plastimagen -, which are seen as fundamentally important opportunities to promote the technology developed by its members, while Thorsten Kühmann, general secretary of Euromap, summarised the history of the support provided within CEN (the European Committee for Standardisation) for the standardisation of machinery and equipment for plastics and rubber machinery, which today is reflected, above all, in technologies characterised by  high energy saving and safety.
