Central European PVC sellers conceding to smaller hikes

After having initially approached the market with 40-50 euro/ton increases for June, Central European PVC sellers are now revising their hike targets downwards one after another in Italy's spot market. A distributor reported that he concluded some deals for Polish PVC k67 and k70 with 20 euro/ton increases. He also started to offer other grades with 20-30 euro/ton increases although he initially asked for 40-50 euro/ton increases. He said he had to revise his offers downwards as a result of the competitive offers from West European suppliers. A second distributor reported that they have sufficient availability of Czech, Slovakian and Polish PVC this month and they are offering with 20 euro/ton increases over last month after having initially asked for 40-50 euro/ton increases. As their transportation costs have increased, they cannot provide much lower prices. They are currently making sales to small converters while they are trying to see if they will have a chance to sell to medium sized converters as well since they will have some stocks left.A third distributor commented that they have had to negotiate with their Central European suppliers to adjust the hike amount down to 10 euro/ton from 30-40 euro/ton for this month so that they can finish their monthly volumes. He admitted that they have lost sales with their high prices. After West European origins were mostly sold out in the first half of the month, they hope to make better sales in the second half of the month. He also added that transportation costs from Central Europe have soared recently.  Overall Central European PVC offers are reported at 800-850 euro/ton for k67 and 830-870 euro/ton for specialty grades over the week while there were relatively lower offers in the spot market at 795-827 euro/ton for k67 and 800-840 euro/ton for k70 from West and South Europe.
