Bioplastics in India
India's first dedicated factory to make bio/compostable films is now up and running in Ahmedabad, making consumer and industrial products from LCI's biolice and marketed under the TrueGreen brand. This project is a close collaboration between TrueGreen Greendiamz Biotech (TrueGreen) and LCI (Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients) as technology provider working together to establish and develop compostable materials.
India is expected to be the third largest consumer of plastics after US and China by 2011, hence the range of TrueGreen ecofriendly solutions will play an increasingly important in meeting the future challenges. Biolice was introduced to the market in 2005 by LCI as a 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable bioplastic, manufactured from naturally grown cereals, and is used for all the TrueGreen bioplastic range.
