All epochs come home to the comb

From January 25 to March 15 the Plart museum of Naples presents the event “Andrea Branzi: all epochs come home to the comb”, a foray of the architect into a world not yet explored by design. The reason could be the extremely wide diffusion of this item that, nowadays, is cheap and taken into consideration only on the basis of its use. The mass production and the low costs depend on cheap plastic materials, which almost entirely replaced natural ones (horn, ivory, tortoise, wood and the first semi-synthetic polymers) which made these objects handicrafts masterpieces. Andrea Branzi was asked to design 12 different plastic comb prototypes. Designing rigour, imagination and advanced production technologies gave life to a combination between portable sculptures and miniatures of furniture pieces.
