In the five-year period 2005-2009, plastics and rubber machinery imports decreased by 5% globally.
Of course, some rose and some fell: China still ranked first in the top ten of big importing countries, but as a result of increasing expansion of local production, still shrank by 10%& over the period.
Falling as well, certainly due to the world recession, were the US (in second place but with -9%) and Germany (fourth with -6%). Conversely, Mexican imports of plastics and rubber machinery were stable (the country ranked third) while India and Brazil showed the strongest increase (respectively +20% and +16%).
