Among the founders of Italian post-modernism, Alessandro Mendini has always stood out for his exuberant style and unconventional sources of inspiration, creating jewellery, paintings, installations, and buildings. Noteworthy is the Proust armchair (1978) characterized by eighteenth-century lines and colourful fabric.
Now a paradox takes form, an unexpected novelty is presented: the same armchair is available in an industrial version, produced by rotational moulding but re-named Magis Proust.
Persico Rotomoulding Division, based in Nembro (Bergamo, Italy), took part in the creation of the new armchair, working together with Magis, headquartered in Torre di Mosto (Venice, Italy), in the various production steps, designing the mould in its in-house technical department.
