Two fully electric blow moulding machines were presented by Meccanoplastica at Plast 2015. The single-station HL 450/S is a continuous extrusion blow moulding machine designed to produce containers with capacity of up to <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" productid="5 litres">5 litres. It is characterized by its 12-ton clamping force, horizontal stroke of the mould carriage in the two versions, 450 and <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" productid="500 mm">500 mm, and raising/lowering movement of the extrusion platform.

The machine is equipped with a hydrostatic-pneumatic mould-closing system driven by a brushless electric motor and a module for using the kinetic energy of the decelerating carriage to generate electricity that is fed back into the line. The standard configuration is designed to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact while at the same time enhancing the production performance and reliability of the EBM unit.

The machine exhibited at the fair had a 3-way head with 150-mm spacing and 3-cavity mould to manufacture HDPE detergent bottles having a capacity of one litre and a weight of 52 g.

Unveiled for the first time, the MIPET-1PA is an innovative machine for stretch blowing PET preforms to make bottles with angled-necks by up to 30° and a capacity of up to one litre. Mould clamping and stretch rod movement are driven by brushless servo motors, ensuring high precision, speed and repeatability. An innovative, patented system integrated into the mould closure makes it possible to use standard preforms to create angled-neck bottles. By combining this unit with the electrical stretch system, plastic bottles of excellent quality can be produced, keeping the preform injection point centred with respect to the stretch rod. At the fair, the machine produced a 750-ml bottle weighing 50 g.
