Vertical entry robot for IML

At Mecspe 2017 (Parma, Italy, March 23-25), Star Automation Europe will be exhibiting the “top” version of an IML system equipped with an XW-1000VI vertical entry robot, the best-seller model in the XW-VI range that combines efficiency with accuracy. Installed on a BMB eKW 25Pi injection press, the system will be producing a crystal PS tray in a single-cavity mould, picking up the labels from a single-station rack anchored to the floor and featuring an alignment device.

The robot gripper will take care of both loading the label into the mould on the stationary platen, and picking up the finished tray from the floating platen, then delivering it on the conveyor belt after having rotated it in the correct stacking position. The high quality combined with low energy and air consumption typical of the XW-VI range, make this robot the ideal choice for different applications, from simple removal tasks to highly complex applications such as insert loading and the manipulation of medical parts in clean rooms.

The robot has a stroke of 1,400 mm on the X and Z axes, 770 mm on the Y axis and incorporates a Stec-520 control unit. In addition to the stationary single-station label rack, this system stands out for the conveyor belt measuring 2,500 x 370 x 1,000 mm including the safety barriers.
