5,500-tonne machine for large logistics containers
Tederic has recently completed acceptance testing of a large NEO H5500 two-platen injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 5,500 tonnes, intended for the French production site of an Italy-based processor manufacturing articles for the logistics sector.
The NEO H5500 is one of Tederic’s key projects for the European market for high-end articles, drawing on the company’s expertise in the research and development, construction and integration of systems for large-scale injection moulding. This two-platen injection moulding machine for large-size applications, designed for products such as logistics items, industrial containers, waste management bins and thick-walled eco-friendly products, has productivity, stability, precision and energy efficiency among its main strengths.
During acceptance testing, the NEO H5500 demonstrated high moulding efficiency and process stability. For a 34.5-kg logistics crate, the moulding cycle was 130 seconds, an improvement of around 10 seconds compared with the solutions already in use at the processor, which will translate into higher productivity at the French plant.
For large, moulded products, weight consistency, dimensional stability and structural strength are critical factors affecting service life, stacking performance and downstream assembly. Through the coordinated optimisation of injection control, machine structure and control systems, Tederic achieved shot-to-shot weight repeatability of up to 0.3%, resulting in more consistent product quality under industrial production conditions.
The NEO H5500 machine is also equipped with a next-generation high-performance servo-hydraulic system, combined with electric plasticising, energy-saving nano-infrared heating and MES connectivity. These features further improve energy efficiency and digital production management, while maintaining reliable machine performance and ensuring more environmentally responsible production processes.
To meet the production requirements of large logistics products, Tederic has optimised the machine’s key elements, including structural design, hydraulic systems, control systems, plasticising performance and smart connectivity. These improvements help achieve a better balance between productivity, product quality and overall operating costs.
