Single-axis drive for basic applications
With the new Sinamics V20 inverter, Siemens Drive Technologies is offering a new single-axis drive for straightforward applications. Compact and sturdy, this inverter ensures quick commissioning times, ease of operation and cost efficiency: it is available in four sizes covering a power range from 0.12 kW up to 15 kW for operating pumps, fans, compressors and conveyor belts, as well as for basic drive applications in the process and manufacturing industries, including the plastics and rubber industry and the goods handling sector.
Basic drive tasks require quick and effective solutions. In this context, Siemens decided to further enlarge its Sinamics range with the addition of the V20 single-axis inverter. Compact inverters can be directly coupled in-line, or assembled in the "push-through" or a more conventional wall mounting. Since additional modules and options are no longer required for the execution, installation times are reduced to a minimum. The integrated Basic Operator Panel (BOP) guarantees for smooth commissioning and on-site execution. In addition to the universal serial interfaces for easy connection to Simatic control units, the terminal also incorporates a Modbus RTU interface for communication with the control units of other vendors.
The execution of the new inverter by Siemens is as easy as its commissioning. As a result, the parameters that have been optimized for a certain application can be easily transferred to other units by means of standard SD or MMC cards to save the user's data. The same procedure can be carried out via the BOP interface or the Parameter Loader optional module, even when the inverter is disconnected from the power supply. The integrated application and connection macros (also for pumps, fans and compressors) provide the adjustments most suited for the actual application. In addition to this, the "Keep Running Mode" allows the inverter to automatically adapt to the actual supply conditions in order to optimize the device's availability even when the grid is unstable. In this case, power fluctuations are compensated and the error messages recognized independently.
The adjustments based on the motor's demand for speed ensure extra energy savings even in basic applications. The Sinamics V20 features the ECO Mode control for improved efficiency, allowing the automatic adjustment of the magnetic flux at the prevailing operation point in the motor. In addition, the DC coupling guarantees an efficient use of power for two inverters in a cluster system. The Sinamics V20 can also switch to the hibernation mode to extend its operating life and reduce wear (for example, on pumps).
