Two days devoted to materials and technologies for flexible packaging

The first Macchi road show in China took place on November 21 and 23 in Xiamen and Tianjin, and saw the participation of some of the finest names in the flexible packaging value chain. The discussion started from the new resins available on the market (Dow Chemicals), and continued examining the new blown film extrusion technologies (Macchi), the importance of auxiliary systems to optimize the extrusion and the converting processes (Doteco and Frigosystem), the growing request for quality control (China Vision) and the development of new printing (KBA Flexotecnica) and converting (NordMeccanica and Goebel IMS) technologies, all focusing on answering to the growing request for better sustainability.

The Chinese flexible packaging market is in fact undergoing a time of deep changes: on top of the common factors driving the innovation all over the world (growing request of food, changing consumption patterns, aging population etc.), the Chinese industry has to face the challenges coming from the new legislation regulating the emissions of VOC in the atmosphere, and a more and more common concern for the environment, which translates into a growing request for more sustainable, energy saving and easily recyclable packaging.

Therefore, the Macchi road show has stimulated the interest of its participants, which have flocked to the two meetings, eager to exchange ideas and experiences with some of the best names in the market.
