Safety standards worldwide
On Thursday December 13, 2012, in Milan, the Technical Committee ISO/TC 270, which has as main objective the worldwide safety standardization on plastics and rubber machinery, started its activity. The delegates coming from seven countries, USA and China included, attended the TC 270 kick-off meeting, whose Secretariat has been given to UNI (Italian standards body), with the Assocomaplast (the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers' association) support.
Within a rather complex and ambitious activity plan, based on the experiences obtained in Europe with the safety standards issued by CEN/TC 145, the first standard to develop is the one concerning injection moulding machines. To this purpose a special Working Group, convened by DIN-VDMA and joined by 8 countries has been activated but from now till the first meeting, already scheduled on May 14 and 15, 2013, other countries can participate in the activities.
