Recycling PET with infrared and vacuum

The new Compac lines developed by Gamma Meccanica to recover post consumer PET allows recycled granule to be regraded and made usable for the production of food grade packaging, thanks to Moby technology developed by SB Plastics Machinery.
Moby consists of a treatment system for recycled PET pellets that employs the contemporary action of infrared rays and high vacuum to remove water and chemical contaminants. Compared to traditional methods, it is an easy system to use, capable of: drying, dehumidifying, crystallising, and supercleaning the material, boosting the intrinsic viscosity of the material itself; saving energy in proportion to the quantity of material treated; and cleaning and preserving the material from oxidation increasing the quality of the finished product. Once treated, the recycled pellets can be stored or introduced directly into processing.
The Compac lines for reclaiming PET, combined with Moby technology, ensure: crystallised pellets ideal for use in the food sector, approved by EFSA and FDA; an increase in intrinsic viscosity in excess of 0.1 dl/g/hour; energy efficiency; and a rapid return on investment.
