Piovan to start up a new facility near Modena

With a new manufacturing facility in San Felice sul Panaro (Modena, Italy), Piovan Group is strengthening its presence in Emilia-Romagna and taking a further step forward in the growth trajectory of its Food & Powders division, confirming its positioning in a highly specialised technological market. A decade of uninterrupted growth, from 2 million euros to approximately 60 million euros, and now the new facility in Emilia-Romagna is set to triple production space. Piovan Group’s Food & Powders division is accelerating its development path and announcing the operational opening, from next autumn, of its new headquarters in the Modena area. Piovan Food & Powders manufactures automation systems for the processing of food ingredients and the handling of industrial powders.

Piovan Group has embarked on a strategic growth path in this sector through substantial investments in technology, leveraging its global positioning in automation systems for the storage, conveying and treatment of polymers and bio-based resins, both virgin and recycled. This activity began in 2015 with the acquisition of Penta, based in Emilia, followed in 2019 by the acquisition of Fea Process & Technological Plants, leading up to the establishment of the Food & Powders division in May 2025 and, at the end of last year, the addition of BHT, based in the Modena area. This growth trajectory has brought turnover to approximately 60 million euros.

The new San Felice sul Panaro facility, built in 2025, will increase production space from 5,000 to 14,000 square metres, with scope for further expansion, in line with the group’s long-term vision. Spacious and functional premises will make it possible to manage operations efficiently and will support prospects for further growth. Upon opening, the facility will employ around one hundred people, with headcount expected to expand over the coming years. The investment will also have a significant impact in terms of employment and innovation: recruitment is already under way to strengthen the workforce with project managers, site managers, sales engineers, mechanical designers, electronic designers and software developers. Finally, the research and development area will be enhanced through a dedicated testing room serving a dual purpose: on the one hand, pilot plants enabling customers to carry out tailored tests; on the other, an environment designed to support continued investment in innovation and the development of new cutting-edge products.

“The new manufacturing facility represents a key milestone in the development and growth path of the Food & Powders division. It will provide the space required to accommodate new turnover volumes, optimise production flow and project an image aligned with group standards. It will also offer a modern and welcoming working environment, in line with Piovan Group standards. Lastly, the creation of a testing room will enable us to fully express the values of excellence and innovation that have always set us apart, ensuring that we can provide our customers with increasingly comprehensive and cutting-edge solutions,” commented Alessandro Sala, CEO of the Food & Powders division.
