Ilham Kadri confirmed as Cefic president
In recent days, Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council) announced the re-election of Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo, as President for a new two-year term. Kadri will continue to lead Cefic's mission of fostering a sustainable and competitive chemical industry in Europe and beyond. “It is an honour to serve this extraordinary industry at such a critical time. Together, we are proving the power of partnership, driving innovation, and tackling Europe’s greatest challenges - from climate change to industrial resilience. The world is watching Europe, and the chemical industry “the mother of all industries” is the foundation of a sustainable and competitive future. My commitment remains firm: to support our sector’s transition while ensuring Europe remains a competitive hub for innovation, investment, and opportunity”, said Ilham Kadri.
Her leadership has been instrumental in Cefic’s ongoing work to secure a sustainable pathway for the industry amid complex challenges and shifting global dynamics. Her dedication to the Antwerp Declaration has mobilised both industry leaders and policymakers around the urgent need to raise competitiveness as priority in Europe. Kadri’s role will take an international dimension as from 1 January, she will also take on the role of President of ICCA (International Council of Chemical Association), during Cefic’s two-year mandate.
