Erema mourns the death of co-founder Helmut Bacher

Helmut Bacher, co-founder and former managing partner of Erema, Austrian plastics recycling machine manufacturer, died on 20 September at the age of 81. Together with Georg Wendelin and Helmuth Schulz, with whom he founded Erema in Linz in 1983, Helmut Bacher is regarded as one of the pioneers of plastics recycling. In 2008, the three partners were honoured for their life's work with the Golden Award of Honour of the Province of Upper Austria.

After training as a fitter and studying mechanical engineering, Bacher held various technical positions before joining a plastics processing machinery company in the early 1970s. He and his two colleagues always shared a forward-looking vision of the potential of plastics recycling, and he remained one of the driving forces behind the company until his retirement in 2004. His technical skills, combined with a solution-oriented approach and a genuine appreciation of his staff, left a lasting impression that continues to shape the company's business today.
