Engel presents its growth roadmap at K 2025
From Engel's press conference at K 2025, the strategic directions of the manufacturer to consolidate its leadership in integrated solutions have emerged clearly, particularly for automotive and polyurethane processing. They are summarised below.
Trexel joins the Engel Group
The acquisition of Trexel, the physical foaming pioneer, represents a significant move for Engel. Trexel maintains its independence as a brand but can now benefit from the global strength and network of the Austrian manufacturer to bring MuCell technology to industrial scale in new application sectors, accelerating the integration of foaming into the injection moulding process.
Partnership with Cannon
The partnership with Cannon allows Engel to strengthen its position as a supplier of polyurethane solutions by combining expertise in reactive PUR and injection moulding with integrated dosing systems and inline coating processes, enabling the delivery of complete turnkey solutions from a single source. To support this strategy, the Austrian group has created the CCC (Clearmelt Competence Centre) at its headquarters, with a digital twin of a 5,500-tonne production cell offering complete support from initial sampling to series production. One of the key demonstrations at the German trade fair concerns the application of polyurethane directly in the mould, eliminating costly hard coating processes. PUR applied in the mould guarantees high surface quality and long-term durability, with shorter process chains and significant cost savings.
Collaboration with Moxietec
On the chemical foaming front, Engel has established a technological collaboration with Moxietec, which brings unique dual expertise. The partnership was presented live at K 2025 with the production of a locking block on an e-mac 220 using 100% PCR material. The results are significant: 30% less weight and 10% increased stiffness. The 15% reduction in cycle time translates into 22,000 additional parts per year and savings of 375,000 euros in material costs. Engel thus positions itself as a full-solution provider for sustainable manufacturing, offering the entire spectrum of foaming technologies – physical, chemical and hybrid – with technologically neutral consulting based on specific customer requirements.
11 years of Wintec
The Wintec range of two-platen electric presses confirms its market success. Sales have doubled compared to the previous year, with approximately 1,500 units sold globally since 2020. The launch of the next-generation PRO series has already begun in Southeast Asia, Africa and the Balkans, with Europe to follow shortly. The series includes both two-platen t-win models and full-electric e-win models, confirming the competitiveness of Engel's offering in the electric machine segment.
EVA: the AI-based virtual assistant
Engel has also presented inject AI: EVA (Engel Virtual Assistant), an artificial intelligence-based virtual assistant available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, directly in the customer portal. EVA, based on Engel GPT, provides technical assistance in any language by drawing on specific information from the customer's technical documentation. The pilot phase starts at K 2025, representing a further step in the digitalisation of customer service.
Active global production network
Engel is actively operating on its production network to ensure regional supply with global quality. On the commercial front, Ethe company has announced two major regional expansions: Engel Spain, the integration of Roegele through the establishment of the new subsidiary Engel Spain in Barcelona ensures direct access to the Southern European market with specialised sales and unlocks new opportunities in the packaging, medical and technical moulding sectors; Engel Poland, expansion of the Warsaw headquarters with a state-of-the-art technology centre for training, customer trials and networking, targeting one of Europe's most dynamic plastics markets.
