Direct productivity measuring
Ryng is a new device developed by Piovan for measuring the real output rate of process machinery. Traditional systems for feeding plastic material to machines use a loading container placed above the storage hopper. The material is transferred from the container to the hopper and then from the hopper to the machine, in times and quantities that depend on the single production batch.
Using the Ryng device it is possible to obtain a precise and immediate measurement of the amount of material transferred from the container to the hopper, to promptly adjust the machine's operating parameters and, above all, to derive information about its actual output rate.
It is a system that directly measures the amount of material transferred from the container to the hopper and, as a result, also the machine's productivity, which otherwise has to be calculated downstream, from the weight and number of pieces moulded in a given amount of time. This, of course, does not provide timely and accurate information on how the machine is actually working, or timely and accurate production data.
Ryng uses proprietary software based on specific algorithms which manage and process the data collected and, therefore, indicate how much material has actually been transferred. Indeed, the system measures the gain in weight in the material loading step, interpolating this value with the loss of container weight due to the transfer of material to the hopper. It thus provides information directly from the field and makes it possible to compare the expected output with the actual output rate of the machine. Furthermore, the software is programmed to exclude or reduce to a minimum any deviation in measurement values due to the unavoidable vibrations of the whole feeding system during the actual running of the machine. As a result, the system gives highly accurate measurements with less than 1% error.
The device is equipped with a small keyboard for entering data on the particular production batch and is connected to a remote control monitor with an 8" touchscreen display. Several Ryng devices, each installed on a separate processing machine, can be connected to a single monitor. This makes it possible, provided that the production batches are the same, both to establish the output of the whole line and to compare the output rates of single machines. In short, the device is universal, applicable to all loader models and brands, extremely easy to install and manage and, at the same time, useful and efficient.
