Chinaplas 2024 still focuses on the circular economy

Chinaplas 2024, the region's leading platform to promote the latest market trends, breakthrough technologies and innovative solutions in the plastics and rubber industries, will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao, Shanghai, China from 23-26 April 2024. The show will fully occupy all 15 exhibition halls, providing more than 380,000 square metres of exhibition space and gather more than 4,000 industry leaders from around the world.

As for China's economic situation, 2023 marked a turning point as doors reopened, revealing a multitude of opportunities and avenues. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the economy grew at a rate of 5.2% in 2023 as it returns to normal. As the economy recovers, sectors such as automobiles, consumer electronics and e-commerce have regained momentum. At the same time, China's manufacturing industry is undergoing a remarkable transformation, moving from its traditional “Made in China” reputation to embracing innovation with the concept of "Innovated in China" to gain competitive advantage in the global market.

Thanks to the strength of the plastics and rubber industry in China, the Chinese trade show will provide an excellent platform for buyers seeking innovative plastics and rubber solutions to embrace the accelerated industrial transformation, and bring new advantages and new momentum to the high-quality industrial development.

The circular economy has gained immense importance in the plastics and rubber industry, traditionally associated with significant waste generation and environmental impact, revolutionising its approach to production and consumption with transformative solutions to drive sustainability by promoting resource efficiency, waste reduction and recycling. It encourages the adoption of innovative plastics and rubber recycling technologies to produce high quality recycled plastics, creating a closed-loop system that maximises the value of materials and promotes a more sustainable and circular future.

Promoting the concept of circular economy remains an internationally recognised imperative and a key pillar of China's economic development strategy to achieve sustainable industrial development. Prominent companies and organisations around the world have pledged to promote the recycling and reuse of plastics. In recent years, the plastics and rubber industry has made unremitting efforts to facilitate the transition to a circular economy. Raw material and machinery suppliers have continuously introduced new technologies for biodegradable materials, recycling and sustainable solutions. In response to the various needs and interests of the industry, Chinaplas 2024 will bring together innovative green solutions in three thematic zones, including the Recycled Plastics Zone, the Bioplastics Zone and the Recycling Technology Zone.
