Production of water pipes with expanded PE sheath
A new European project for the production of insulated water pipes involving Union includes the production of expanded PE insulating sheathing for rigid copper or multilayer pipes with diameters from 16 mm to 32 mm and insulation thicknesses of 6, 10 and 13 mm. In addition, a coating and embossing unit will be used for finishing the pipes.
The manufacturing system, therefore, includes two different processes, whose interaction makes it possible to realize the required product: the production of sheaths using twin-screw extruders, and their coating by means of single-screw extruders equipped with a series of manifolds with four interchangeable heads each, for the extrusion of two or four sheaths at a time. The extruders are also equipped with a filtration system in order to also use recycled plastics.
