Better than the human eye

The operations of Cimbria-SEA are focused on the development of optical selectors according to colour and polymer type for the separation of flakes, ground materials and granules. The latest novelties developed by the company include the RGB SEA Chrome full-colour selector, which is truly revolutionary in terms of colour selection and the recovery of post-consumer plastic and industrial waste (PET, PE, PP, PVC, ABS, PS etc.), and Hypersirt SEA, that completes the range of optical selectors and specifically designed for combined polymer+colour selection.

The full-Color technology of SEA Chrome is capable of “seeing” in the same way as the human eye, and recognizes no less than 16 million colours. When configured with additional NIR-InGaAs video cameras, the machine assures the best possible identification of the visible and infrared spectrum. Each colour, shade and density difference being perfectly recognized thanks to the advanced vision system, that assures the maximum quality of the selected material, as well as the best possible selection of the plastic itself into homogeneous colour fractions.

The machine can be divided into two or three independent sections, in order to adapt to any process that requires multiple selection stages. The user is able to easily set the programme according to specific requirements. The separation of polymers of different type but of the same colour is now possible for piece sizes from 2 mm.

The SEA Hypersort optical selector makes use of hyper-spectral sensors (NearInfrared) that are capable of identifying any contaminant of foreign polymers of the same colour which cannot be identified even with the naked eye. PET, PVC, PE, PP, PS and other plastics can therefore be separated according to the chemical nature of the polymer itself, in order to satisfy the purity standards required by the market.

The near infrared hyper-spectral sensors recognize the elements according to their specific hyper-spectral properties, of reflected light. The sophisticated, yet user-friendly software, allows the operator to always be sure of the best performance, even in the event frequent changes of processing material.

The new SEA Hypersort has enhanced the range of high-technology optical selection solutions offered by Cimbria-SEA.
