Joint-venturefor cellulose

Eastman announced on November 8 a joint venture with the Italian company Mazzucchelli 1849 for the manufacture of compounded cellulose diacetate (CDA) in Shenzhen, China. CDA is a bio-derived material which is used in various injection moulded applications such as eyeglass frames, tool handles etc.
Eastman believes that the demand for cellulosic materials will continue to grow thanks not only to innovative segments (like liquid crystal displays) but also to traditional ones (like fashion eyewear), where design flexibility, physical properties and the increased interest in bio-derived materials play a more and more decisive role.
