Digital passports for polystyrene foam products
Kezzler, in collaboration with Versalis and Cariplo Factory, is proud to announce the launch of a new pilot project aimed at testing Digital Product Passports (DPP) to enhance product traceability and transparency in the chemical industry. The project falls within the scope of the Federated Innovation @MIND ecosystem. It is set to run for six months, and will focus on a select number of products produced by Versalis.
The goal of the DPP pilot is to digitize the lifecycle of polystyrene foam products. This enables Versalis to easily share relevant product data via a secure, digital platform. Kezzler’s Connected Products Platform (CPP) will play a pivotal role in the pilot, providing unique digital identities for each product. This identifier, visible on the packaging as a QR code, contains critical production information such as material composition. Users can scan the QR code to access a dedicated landing page where all product data is stored and made available in real time.
This innovative approach to traceability is part of a broader effort to improve operational efficiency by reducing reliance on traditional paper-based methods of communication. By adopting Digital Product Passports, Versalis is taking a significant step toward meeting the requirements of the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), contributing to a more sustainable and circular future.
The third partner Cariplo Factory will provide the necessary services to facilitate and promote collaboration in the project and involve other players within the Federated Innovation @MIND ecosystem.
