Twin screws for rubber

The new Convex range of counter-rotating intermeshing twin-screw extruders has been developed by Pomini Rubber & Plastics, headquartered in Castellanza (Varese, Italy), for processing rubber compounds.
The screw profile has been optimized, in particular as regards the flow behaviour of the compound, thanks to CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEM (Finite Element Method) analyses, which allow for a reduction in energy demand for a given load.
A new control system allows the machine to run in completely automatic mode, ensuring unvarying compound quality and thus less waste and lower manufacturing costs. In terms of flexibility, the machine can be combined with a pelletizing unit instead of a calender.
