A superhero in search of colour
To promote the new colour collection developed by its in-house Design Center, Grafe, whose product range includes masterbatches, additives and functional compounds, has created a fictional character: by day, he is the respected and expert colour psychologist Dr Coloris, but at the end of the working day he turns into the superhero Colorakel. Dressed in a special outfit and glasses, he goes everywhere looking for new colours with which to make the world a more beautiful and more colourful place, even though he plans to wait until Color Review 2014 in order to show us what he has found. Until then, we can follow his adventures in a series of 18 stories all about him.
The first story does not open with him busy saving the world or engaged in some other superhero-type activity, but rather working in his office. Lying on the psychologist's couch is a ghost who is talking about his life and describing his fears in relation to others and the feelings he has. "I always feel as though people are looking right through me", he says. Colorakel listens intrigued and then notices in a pale purple gleam in the ghost's otherwise transparent appearance. It is such a delicate shade that it immediately draws him into a fantastic reverie. But, pulling himself together, he says to his magical patient: "My dear ghost, on first sight you do seem transparent, but looking closely one can see that really you give off a purple glow. You are a real inspiration for my Color Preview 2014 and I am going to call your colour Transparent Purple. From now on, everyone will look at you in a different light and be fascinated because there is something a bit different about you."
