R-PET for food
The use of recycled PET (R-PET) for the production of articles that will come into contact with food is the subject of a new three-year European project dubbed SupercleanQ. The project is led by a research consortium composed of 12 partners, with Italy being represented by Assocomaplast and two recycling companies (Aliplast and Dentis). The consortium, which formally became active last 1 November, has the objective of improving the process of separating and recycling post-consumer PET for food-related uses and developing QC procedures and a quality protocol meeting the requirements of European Commission (EC) Regulation 282/2008.
