Printing by Marte

A Marte GL flexographic printing machine with gearless technology has recently been supplied by BFM, based in Solbiate Olona (Varese, Italy), for 7-colour decoration of BOPP film for packaging of pasta, chips and biscuits. This machine uses 1.14-mm thick photopolymer plates with 48-54 line/cm digital etching, while the cliché are mounted on sleeves with a polyurethane and glass fibre structure.
The machine, which features a 1,750-mm central drum, can reach speeds of up to 350 m/min. Moreover it offers a high degree of customization to meet specific requirements in terms of technical characteristics, reel diameter, printing quality, etc. For instance, to obtain a printing width up to 1,200 mm - as needed by manufacturers of film for mineral water - the central drum can be enlarged up to 2,200 mm, allowing the use of larger sleeves.
