In Italy polyolefins more expensive in April
While speculations about further PP and PE hikes in April are prevailing in Italy, a trader offering a regular Middle Eastern origin expressed his sell ideas for next month with increases. The trader was forced to close the monthly sales on March 10 as a result of an unscheduled maintenance shutdown at his Middle Eastern supplier's plant. As the producer is expected to resume production next week, he thinks that he will be able to offer again in April and their prices will be higher.
For LDPE, he is planning to ask for a 50 euro/ton increase and raise his prices to 1,230 euro/ton FD North Italy, 60 days deferred payment. Regarding PP, he is mulling over a 100 euro/ton increase, lifting his offers to 1,230 euro/ton for homo PP and 1,260 euro/ton for PP block copolymer with the same terms. He expects the April contract to settle 80 euro/ton higher while spot values have risen 50 euro/ton since March 1, standing 90 euro/ton above the gross March propylene contract price.
