Innovation and cutting-edge production to be even more competitive

A global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical systems for industrial handling and automation, Ametek consolidates its activities in Italy opening a new plant in Peschiera Borromeo, near Milan. On December19, 2018 the chief executive officers of Ametek Italia and Ametek, a company of the Ametek Group, inaugurated the new site in the presence of local authorities, associations, customers, suppliers and the press.

The new facilities will accommodate the design, production and sales of advanced handling systems under the MAE brand destined for the European markets as well as customer support activities throughout Italy for several brands in the field of precision electronic instruments. The Ametek Group has more than 17,000 employees working in over 150 production plants worldwide.

"We are proud to announce this new phase of Ametek in Italy. Bringing under a single roof activities that before were scattered at different locations and unifying the company processes will foster the creation of new synergies. So the new facilities will play an absolutely strategic role for the growth of our business unit" said Uwe Lorenz, CEO of Ametek Italia MAE.

"With this investment, we created a center of absolute excellence for precision instruments on the Italian market, boosting the competitiveness of Ametek, always at the forefront in terms of innovation and development of new products" commented Stefano Milani, CEO of Ametek.

The new facilities will meet Ametek's development needs, whose corporate growth plan is based on four key strategies: operational excellence, strategic acquisitions, global market expansion, and new products. Indeed, innovation is a characteristic feature of Ametek. Thanks to the new facilities, the company will be even more ready to face the challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution, bringing excellent products to the market even faster.

"The quality of Ametek products also depends on the opportunities for specialization and training that the company can offer, as well as on the quality of the working environment" underscored Antonella Perfetto, human resource manager at Ametek Italia.

The construction works were carried out in record time – only six months – and activity will start in the coming days and consolidated from January 2019. The site will accommodate 227 employees over an area of 7,500 square meters, providing functional working places. The company decided to open this new plant in Peschiera Borromeo thanks to the central position of this location with respect to the two previous sites in Robecco sul Naviglio (near Milan) and Ripalta Cremasca (near Cremona).
