Halogen-free compounds for cables

Three new cross-linkable, halogen-free compounds that can be processed using Sioplas technology (the same used for XLPO-HFFR) were introduced by Fainplast at Wire 2014, the tradeshow dedicated to cables and wires, held in Düsseldorf on April 7-11. The new levels HFX 525F, HFX 519HS and HFX 500P, which conform to the strictest requisites for safety and insulation provided for cables and wires, not only ensure enhanced productivity but are also advantageous thanks to their facilitated processing and improved performance.
HFX 525F is easier to process than standard XLPO-HFFR (cross-linkable polyolefin, halogen-free flame retardant) compounds and allows extrusion speeds that are 25-40% faster. HFX 519HS is presented as an evolved form of cross-linkable compounds and destined for use mainly in association with PVC. It is well suited for "difficult extrusions" and makes it possible to obtain very smooth surfaces. HFX 500P is the newest version of HFX 500S, one of Fainplast's best-selling products, with enhanced insulating and fire retardant properties.
The Düsseldorf fair was a very important showcase for Fainplast in the German market, where the company has seen a 40% increase in exports over the past year.
