Biopolymers for Danone

The Dutch manufacturer Avantium has announced a collaborative agreement with the multinational Danone, world's number two producer of bottled mineral water.
The objective of the agreement regards the use of PEF (polyethylene furanoate) in place of the now traditional PET as a material for bottles. Offering environmental advantages with respect to PET, this biopolymer is currently produced in a 40-ton pilot plant in Geleen, Holland.
