Bigger is better
According to Uniloy, modern and efficient machines with many cavities are an effective solution to reduce the cost of the blow moulded items. This manufacturing philosophy is well recognized in the consumer packaging industry, where the monthly production often amounts to some millions of containers.
To comply with this need, the company has introduced new "jumbo" models, both for the continuous extrusion and the injection blow molding. These machines - already delivered to prestigious multinational companies in Europe and United States - are the biggest available in the respective technological sectors.
The UMS 500 model belongs to this kind of machines. It features a stroke of 1350 mm and a clamping force of 50 tons, that put this machine in the top rank of the continuous extrusion "shuttle" technology. It is available in configurations with up to 14 + 14 cavities (90 mm centre distance) and for the coextrusion up to 7 layers.
In spite of such huge characteristics, the machine has a compact footprint (7.5 x 7.5 m). Several UMS 500-D have been already delivered for the production of motor oil packaging, all of them equipped with IML (In Mould Labelling) systems on both sides of the containers.
