GreenPlast 2025 unveiled: a launchpad for sustainable innovation
The press conference for unveiling GreenPlast 2025 took place on 26 November, announcing the international trade fair dedicated to materials and technologies for plastic and rubber processing, with a focus on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Scheduled for 27-30 May 2025 at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition fairground, the event is set to remain a key gathering point for the entire plastics supply chain.
Opening the conference, Mario Maggiani, CEO of Promaplast, the organiser of the event, emphasised the strategic value of the exhibition for the participating companies. "GreenPlast offers a unique formula, combining competitive exhibition spaces with in-depth discussions on green topics in the conference sessions, creating an ideal meeting point for innovation and sustainability," stated Maggiani.
The Innovation Alliance network
GreenPlast is part of The Innovation Alliance, a network that brings together four complementary trade fairs: Ipack-Ima, Print4All, Intralogistica, and GreenPlast itself. These events will be held simultaneously, occupying almost the entire exhibition area at Rho, allowing visitors to move freely between the pavilions. This integrated ecosystem provides a unique opportunity to explore synergies and foster collaborations across various industrial sectors.
“Shaping a sustainable future for plastics”: AMI's conference
The fair will be accompanied by a conference organised by AMI - Applied Market Information, titled "Shaping a sustainable future for plastics", which will span all four days of the event. Andy Beevers, Director, Events and Magazines, AMI, provided an overview of the conference's topics, including regulatory developments, material separation automation, and chemical and mechanical recycling.
EU Regulations and technological progress
Another key moment of the press conference was a presentation by Elizabeth Carroll, AMI consultant, who provided an analysis of the impact of European regulations on recycled content targets. According to the analyst, the success of the plastics industry will depend on a collaborative effort between legislators, producers, and consumers to achieve ambitious goals.
An Unmissable Event
Despite global economic uncertainties, GreenPlast confirms that the sales of exhibition space are in line with the 2022 edition. This data, as Mario Maggiani pointed out, highlights the confidence companies have in the value of the event, even in complex sectors such as the automotive industry.
“In terms of exhibition space sales, we are quite satisfied with the results achieved so far, particularly considering the current economic climate. Some challenges are mainly linked to the injection moulding sector, which is feeling the impact of the automotive industry crisis. Nevertheless, the number of exhibitors aligns with the figures recorded in November 2021. GreenPlast’s strength lies in its competitiveness, thanks to the reduced cost of stands. The price for bare space is 185 euros per square metre, to which the cost of the pre-fitted stand, set at 80 euros per square metre, is added. For areas up to 64 square metres, only pre-fitted options are available, with the aim of ensuring uniformity in the stands – a distinctive feature of the exhibition-conference format”, explained Maggiani (picture on the right).
GreenPlast 2025 is thus set to become a key international event, combining both exhibition and conference aspects to promote progress towards an increasingly circular and efficient industry.
