3D printing on demand just a click away

The global leader in applied additive technology solutions, Stratasys, announced the launch of its “Direct Factory” portal in Italy. The portal enables designers, engineers and manufacturers to easily and rapidly meet their design and production requirements by ordering 3D printed parts online.

As of March 25, the part production service can be accessed by customers via Stratasys’ Italian-language homepage, following a simple registration within the Direct Factory portal. Designed for ease-of-use, customers simply upload their designs and STL files, select either of Stratasys’ flagship FDM or PolyJet technologies, and choose the required materials. When the order form is complete, a cost calculator provides users with an immediate quotation. Once satisfied, the customer confirms, and the order is processed immediately. The 3D printing and delivery of the required parts is handled by a local certified partner.

“We’re delighted to extend the Direct Factory portal for customers in Italy. Following its success in German-speaking countries last year, the portal will allow designers and manufacturers to fulfil part requirements quickly and easily. Whether it be unique, one-off orders, or manufacturers experiencing over capacity and requiring large quantities in short timeframes, all part requirements can be met”, explained Matthias Gukelberger, Vice President and Head of Services Stratasys EMEA.

“With our Global Manufacturing Network (GMN) of authorised partners, part production can be completed locally, helping customers reduce their supply chains with our distributed manufacturing approach. The GMN is important to the success of the portal - if a customer orders a large quantity of parts that cannot be fulfilled by the local partner only, other authorized partners with the required tools and skills will be on standby to process the request”, he added.
