Softer prepares to produce in India

As part of its internationalisation strategy, Softer has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Kohyei Trading India, with the aim of establishing a permanent presence in India. The new partner, which is based in Chennai and has a distribution network covering the country's major cities, will be required not only to market the Italian company's products, but also to monitor the Indian market in preparation for the opening there, within the next two years, of a compound production facility.
"We chose Kohyei Trading India as distributor of our products because of its recognised expertise and ability to provide customers with the necessary technical support", explained Softer sales director Riccardo Meucci. "What is more, we have far-reaching plans for India and are setting great store by our partnership with Kohyei in order to expand in this vast country, where we intend to open a production unit". According to estimates issued by the All Plastic Industries Association, the Indian market, which has around 25 thousand processing companies and 15 large manufacturers of polymers, is set to grow at an annual rate of 12-15% in the next three years, recording investments in the region of six billion euro. As a result, it will account for 9% of total world plastics consumption.
